Slowing down the aging process |
Aging is a natural process that all human beings go through and that none of us can stop. With the increase in age several changes take place in the body, both inside and outside.
On the inside, bones become weaker, muscles lose their flexibility, blood vessels start to stiffen up and in general the bodily organs become weaker. And, on the outside, the skin starts developing wrinkles, vision and hearing ability becomes weaker, and hair starts becoming grey along with several other symptoms.
Aging is something which is inevitable. However, some people manage to look younger than their age and stay healthier until they are 75-80 years old. And there are a few other people who look older by almost 15-20 years than their actual age, all because of an unhealthy lifestyle choice.
All of us can slow down the process of aging through a few changes in the lifestyle; especially, if we make them at an earlier stage. The best way to slow down aging is by eating healthy, keeping the body free of toxins, exercising regularly and cultivating a positive mindset.
Slowing down the aging process would require a few small changes in the way we lead our life. This includes a few changes in diet and our day-to-day activities. A few do’s and don’ts that could be immensely helpful in slowing down the aging process are as listed below:
Don’ts:
- Do not smoke—smoking is the number one reason that can hamper your overall health and speed up the aging process.
- Avoid alcohol as much as possible right from young age.
- Avoid food which is high in fat, salt and sugar.
- Protect your skin from UV rays—use sun block whenever you go outdoors.
- Avoid food items, such as potatoes that are high in glycemic.
- Do not consume red meat excessively, instead switch to healthier meats.
Do’s: - Keep your body hydrated; drink lots of water during the day. Drinking eight glasses of water every day is the best way to keep the body hydrated and healthy.
- Follow a good skin care program. Always use a sunscreen when you go out. You may also opt use a few anti-aging products, such as Zio Anti-Aging Moisturizer and Aloe Vera Jelly on a daily basis.
- Make exercise a part of your day to day life. Light exercises like brisk walking and yoga can also be very helpful.
- Get enough sleep every night for at least 7 to 8 hours.

- Have a regular body check up done; there are plenty of diseases that can be avoided if checked at the earlier stages.
- Stay happy. This is the most critical aspect. Being happy and stress-free can effectively slow down the aging process.
